ETNO: A journey through Ancient Canarian Music

June 29 @ 19:00

Etno

A journey through Ancient Canarian Music in Mácher.

The ETNO project is conceived as a concert that brings us closer to the diversity of rhythms, melodies, coplas and romances existing in the Canary Islands, that is committed to making this legacy known beyond the borders of the archipelago and that revalues among young Canarians that popular wisdom that connects us with what is essential.

In this journey through ancient music, ETNO navigates from the time of the first settlers of the islands, to delve into this interesting and enriching cultural confluence, which has marked the island’s identity over the centuries.
Miguel Afonso is one of the most consolidated popular musicians of the Canary Islands. He creates his own style and marks a personal path, which has led him to become one of the most prolific Canarian musicians today. He began a long journey through the world of traditional music, carrying out research into the musical tradition of the islands and dedicating himself in recent years to the study of the accordion as an instrument of great repercussion in the Canary Islands.
